Accessibility

Last updated 30 September 2026

Midad National Energy Company wants everyone to be able to use midadenergy.com, including people who use assistive technology or who browse in ways that differ from the default.

The standard we work to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. Accessibility was part of how the site was designed and built, rather than a check added afterwards.

This statement covers the public pages of midadenergy.com. It does not cover websites we link to.

What we have done

  • Structure. Every page has one main heading, headings in a logical order, and standard page regions, so screen reader users can move around quickly. A “skip to content” link is the first thing on every page.
  • Keyboard. Menus, links, buttons and forms can be reached and used with a keyboard alone, and the item in focus is always clearly outlined.
  • Colour and contrast. Body text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against its background. Colour is never the only way information is shown.
  • Images. Informative images have text descriptions. Decorative images are hidden from screen readers so they do not add noise.
  • The map. The map of where we operate has a text description that names every country shown.
  • Motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, animations are switched off, numbers appear at their final value, and the homepage shows a still image instead of video.
  • Forms. Every field has a visible label. Errors are described in words beside the field and announced to screen readers, and are never shown by colour alone. There is no CAPTCHA.
  • Zoom and reflow. Pages are built to reflow on small screens and when zoomed, without text being cut off or needing to scroll sideways.

How we check

Before changes to the site’s design and page templates are released, we run automated checks of heading structure, page regions and colour contrast, and review the affected pages with a keyboard. This statement was last reviewed on 30 September 2026.

Known limitations

We know of the following:

  • Homepage video. The background video on the homepage plays automatically and loops, and there is no button to pause it. It has no sound and carries no information that is not also in the text. If your device is set to reduce motion, the video does not play at all.
  • Forms need JavaScript. Our forms check your entries and send them using JavaScript. If JavaScript is switched off, the form cannot be sent, and shows the email address to write to instead.

If you find a problem that is not listed here, please tell us.

Compatibility

The site is designed to work with current versions of the major browsers and with widely used assistive technology, including screen readers, screen magnifiers, keyboard-only navigation and voice control.
