Midad Energy was founded in 1994 and has been investing outside the Kingdom for almost as long.
Who we are
Our business has three parts. We explore for and produce oil and gas, usually in partnership with the national oil company of the country we are working in. We take and hold equity positions in energy and infrastructure assets. And through Midad Real Estate we develop property in Saudi Arabia.
The production sharing agreement we joined in Azerbaijan in 1994 is still producing. The contract we signed with Sonatrach in Algeria runs for thirty years. Midad Energy employs more than 700 people directly and around 500 more indirectly, across five countries.

Our story
Midad Energy was founded in 1994. In the same year, the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli production sharing agreement was signed in Baku, and Midad Energy was part of it. That is an unusual place for a new Saudi private company to begin, and it set the direction for everything after it.
What followed was a series of positions taken in markets that were opening rather than mature. Egypt. Algeria. Kazakhstan and Central Asia for a period. Each one entered alongside a partner who knew the ground, and held long enough for the geology and the contract to do their work.
